KNX TEMPLATE
INTRODUCTION
There is a new way to speed up the Ilevia Manager project cronfiguration and it is called KNX Template. This feature allows to create a group of components that, through keywords recognition, will create a group of components ready to be placed in the interface and used by the Consumer on the Ilevia App.
USE CASES
-
Use the KNX template to create ready to use custom groups containing all the thermostat components already created and ready to be placed within the interface.
KNX Project setup
Open the ETS project you will import in ETS. In order to make the Ilevia Manager ETS importer wizard able to recognise and later on create the components based on the template, you must apply a specific Keyword to the starting group address which the Ilevia Manager Wizard will recognise and use to create the components once the ETS project importation is done.
In this case the Keyword will be Thermostat as shown in the picture below.
Export the ETS software and save it in your local files.
KNX Template setup
Open Ilevia Manager. 1. Enter the Gateway tab. 2. then create a new Gateway. 3. Finally select KNX Template as protocol of the Gateway.
1. Head to the Components tab, 2. create a new group by clicking the “+” icon on the top left of the My components section of the software. 3. Name the group with the Keyword you have set to the starting group address in the ETS project, 4. Finally select the Gateway of the group with KNX Template.
Add the first component within the group and set it with the KNX Template Gateway. Set the first write group address of the component to 0/0/0, the Ilevia Manager will recognize the group address which we have fit the Keyword in. Then add the other components based on the type of Data point you set in the ETS group addresses that will be added later on in the Ilevia Manager project. The group addresses of the components must be configured, starting from the first component added in the group, adding only the last character of the group address.
Import the ETS project by using the Ilevia Manager’s ETS project importation wizard. Follow this guide to have more information on how to import the ETS project within the Ilevia Manager software.
Final result
If the KNX Template has been set up correctly, you should expect to find the groups of components already set up and ready to be placed in the User interface.
How to filter the components that will be added to the user interface with the KNX template
With the KNX Template has a unique feature that allows you to exclude specific components that won’t be added within the user interface once you drag and drop the group created with the ETS project importation.
This “Filter” allows you to add only certain components within the user interface once you drag the Components group within the User interface tab of the Ilevia manager software. To access this feature, select the KNX Template then click “Edit interface droppable components“.
Once accessed, the Edit droppable components feature, allows you to select which component will be added within the User interface once you drag and drop the group inside the User interface.
As you can see from the image below, you are able to filter the components that will be added in the interface later on by ticking or unticking the checkbox place on the right side of the screen.
In order to add the group within the interface editor, enter the User interface tab. Drag and drop the whole group from the component’s tab on the left screen pane of the tab.

Remove the group in case of single components
The Remove group on single component feature allows to not to create separate groups for each component that is created by the KNX Template. This allows to group up all the single component together without any group between them.
Create the Group with the KNX Template gateway selected as explained in the step of the Chapter called KNX Template setup.
Add a new component within the group, then compile the properties of the component to match the one you have done in the ETS project.
Make sure to tick the checkbox within the Group properties “Remove groups on single component“.
Now import the ETS project with the Ilevia manager’s ETS project importer wizard.
Final result
As you can see from the image below, once imported the ETS project in Ilevia Manager, the single components will be added in the same group and not created in a separate group.
